Mairang Chaddar
This is a beautiful chaddar based on traditional design namely ‘Moirangphee’ used by the Manipuri Community. The name of the design is “Moirang” which has a wonderful history and phee refers to cloth. The construction of ‘Moirang’ design is a skilful activity. As it has a solid colour narrow side border along the length, i..e warp and weft colour are of the same colour , and there is inter-crossing of the weft yarn in design portion, where both the weft of design and body are of different colour for the same pick. The weft is not being woven edge to edge like other products, in case of developing a Moirang design. This is the Traditional attire for the Manipuri women folk and also being worn during different cultural events/functions like marriage etc. The colour of the design yarn are usually in very much contrast to the colour of the body yarn.
