When the mountains weave their magic into wool, the result is something truly extraordinary. Our Handwoven Kullu Stole in Black is a proud piece of Himachal Pradesh's most celebrated handloom tradition—crafted in the valleys of Kullu by skilled weavers who have inherited this art through generations of dedicated practice. Wrapping yourself in this stole is not merely wrapping yourself in warmth. It is wrapping yourself in a story—one of mountain air, ancient looms, vibrant colours, and the quiet pride of a craft that has endured for centuries.
The deep, rich black base of this stole is its most striking feature—a bold, sophisticated canvas that makes every colourful detail pop with extraordinary brilliance. Running across the lower portion of the stole is a broad, showstopping band of traditional Kullu geometric weave—featuring large diamond lattice motifs in vivid red and golden orange, each diamond centered with a bright blue cross motif and surrounded by complementary accents of lime green, olive, brown, and cream. Above this, a series of smaller geometric border bands in orange, red, green, and blue create a layered, rhythmic composition that is characteristic of authentic Kullu craftsmanship at its finest.
Along the upper edge, a graceful Bel design — the traditional Kullu border motif — cascades diagonally across the black ground in warm shades of orange, red, yellow, and green, creating the impression of a living, blooming vine climbing across the fabric. This detail alone sets the stole apart as a piece of genuine artistry rather than mere utility. The stole is finished at both ends with neat, natural black fringes that add a classic, elegant touch to the overall aesthetic.
What makes this stole truly special beyond its beauty is the material from which it is woven — premium Merino wool, the gold standard of natural fibres. Ultra-lightweight yet exceptionally warm, Merino wool traps heat efficiently while remaining breathable and soft against the skin, making this stole a pleasure to wear across all seasons. It is the kind of warmth that does not weigh you down — light as a feather, warm as a hearth.
At 200 x 72 cm, this stole is generously sized and versatile — drape it over your shoulders as a stole, wrap it around your neck as a scarf, or style it as a shawl. It pairs beautifully with both Indian and Western outfits, making it an effortlessly stylish accessory for casual outings, travel, cultural events, and everyday use.
A truly wonderful gift for anyone who appreciates fine handloom textiles, the warmth of the mountains, and the beauty of traditional Indian craft.
Care Instructions
Hand wash only in cold water using a mild, gentle detergent—do not machine wash
Do not soak for extended periods—wash gently and quickly to preserve the wool fibres and the vibrant colours.
Do not wring or twist the fabric—gently press out excess water by rolling the stole in a clean dry towel
Lay flat to dry in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight—never hang to dry, as the weight of wet wool can distort the shape.
Do not tumble dry or use a dryer at any point
Iron on low heat with a pressing cloth placed between the iron and the fabric—never iron directly on the woollen surface
Store folded in a clean, dry cotton bag or muslin cloth—keep a few drops of natural cedar oil or a lavender sachet nearby to deter moths
Keep away from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent fading of the bright multicolour motifs
