Dharmavaram, the "Silk City of Andhra Pradesh," is globally celebrated for its opulent handloom traditions, and this pure silk saree is a stellar example of that storied heritage. Known for their heavy texture and lustrous finish, Dharmavaram sarees are a staple in every Indian bride's trousseau. This particular piece is a masterful display of contrast and intricate weaving, designed to make a grand statement at weddings and high-profile festive celebrations.

The saree features a stunning dual-tone palette. The body is rendered in a vibrant, jewel-toned green that radiates a natural silk sheen. This is beautifully juxtaposed with a rich purple pallu and border, creating a classic South Indian "Ganga-Jamuna"-inspired contrast. The body of the saree is further elevated by delicate circular ethnic buttas woven in silver and gold zari, providing a balanced sparkle that does not overwhelm the eye.

The hallmark of this Dharmavaram masterpiece is its expansive, broad border and the heavy pallu. The pallu is a canvas of dense golden zari brocade, featuring traditional motifs including majestic elephants and intricate geometric patterns. These motifs are not mere prints but are painstakingly woven using a 3-ply weft technique, which gives the fabric its signature weight and durability. The high-quality 2-ply warp ensures that despite its heavy appearance, the saree remains supple enough to drape with precision and grace.

Crafted with a width of 47 inches and a total length of 6.30 meters, this saree offers ample material for a traditional drape with a rich set of pleats. It comes accompanied by a matching purple blouse piece, ensuring a coordinated and regal ensemble. When you wear a Dharmavaram handloom, you aren't just wearing a garment; you are draped in centuries of weaving excellence and the soul of Andhra craftsmanship.

Care Instructions

  • Professional Dry Clean Only: To preserve the natural oils of the silk and the brilliance of the zari, this saree should only be dry cleaned.

  • Storage: Store in a cool, dark, and dry place. Wrap the saree in a breathable cotton or muslin cover to protect the zari from air-borne moisture and oxidation.

  • Folding: To avoid permanent creases and fiber breakage, refold the saree every 3 to 4 months. Avoid hanging silk sarees on metal hangers.

  • Ironing: Use a very low heat setting. It is highly recommended to place a thin pressing cloth between the iron and the saree. Never iron directly on the zari work.

  • Moisture Protection: Avoid using perfumes, deodorants, or water sprays directly on the silk, as these can cause permanent staining or "water spots."
