In Indian spiritual tradition, Nandi is far more than a divine bull. He is the devoted companion and gatekeeper of Lord Shiva, representing strength, loyalty, patience, and unwavering faith. Placed at the entrance of temples and homes, Nandi is believed to protect sacred spaces and guide devotees toward calmness and inner balance. This Brass Nandi Statue carries that spiritual presence into your home, reminding one of discipline, devotion, and quiet strength.
An Ancient Craft from the Heart of India
This sitting Nandi is handcrafted in Madhya Pradesh using the Dokra art form, one of India’s oldest metal casting traditions, practiced for over 4,000 years. Passed down through generations of tribal artisans, Dokra craft relies on the lost-wax casting method, a process that requires skill, patience, and deep cultural knowledge.
Each piece begins with a clay core shaped by hand. Beeswax is then layered and detailed carefully to form the design. Once the wax model is complete, it is coated with layers of clay and heated so the wax melts away, leaving a hollow mold. Molten metal is poured into this space, capturing every curve and texture created by the artisan’s hands. Once cooled, the mold is broken to reveal a one-of-a-kind sculpture—no two pieces are ever identical.
